A living room opening onto a terrace can feel more connected when the surfaces share a colour direction. That connection can come from related shades and proportions. The indoor and outdoor products still need to suit their separate jobs.
Match the visual relationship
Compare indoor and outdoor samples together, viewed from the doorway. They do not have to be identical. A similar undertone or pattern scale can connect the spaces while allowing a different surface texture outside.
Plan the threshold early
The level change, door system and drainage belong in the design conversation before tiles are ordered. Your contractor should confirm the build-up, falls and waterproofing details for the site. A photograph of a flush-looking threshold is not enough to specify one.
Ask for the outdoor details
Check that the exact external tile is appropriate for its intended location and exposure. Request the relevant technical data, including slip information for the actual use. Steps and poolside areas may need different products or pieces from a sheltered seating area.
