A tile shortlist should do more than collect colours you like. It should help you compare products that can actually work in the room, fit the budget and arrive in time for the installation. These seven questions give the conversation a useful structure.
First, establish the right product
Ask: is this exact tile suitable for the intended location? Which finish and format are we discussing? What technical information does the installer need? Record the product code so a sample, quotation and final order all refer to the same item.
Then, plan the whole surface
Ask: how will the layout and cuts work? What total quantity does the installer recommend? Include the agreed allowance for the layout and any spare tiles you want to keep. Check shade and batch information with the supplier and installer before fixing begins.
Finally, confirm the complete order
Ask: which grout, trims and matching pieces are needed? What is the current availability and expected delivery timing? Count those finishing details in the budget and programme. If a necessary edge piece is unavailable, it is better to resolve the alternative before work starts.
